Ring Balai Bahasa puniki wenten 142 cakep lontar saking makudang-kudang soroh.

[uah]Raja Niwatakawaca mempersiapkan serangan terhadap Kerajaan Indra di sorga. Karena raja raksasa tersebut tidak dapat dikalahkan, baik oleh para dewa maupun raksasa lainnya, Dewa Indra memutuskan untuk meminta bantuan kepada Arjuna, yang saat itu sedang bertapa di Gunung Indrakila. Sebelum memberikan bantuannya, Arjuna terlebih dahulu diuji ketabahannya dalam melakukan yoga, karena hal ini menjadi jaminan bahwa bantuannya akan memberikan hasil yang sesuai dengan harapan.
Tujuh bidadari, yang kecantikannya luar biasa termasuk Tilotama dan Suprabha diperintahkan untuk mendatangi Arjuna dan memanfaatkan pesona mereka untuk menggoda sang pertapa. Ketujuh bidadari tersebut mendatangi gua tempat Arjuna bertapa dan berusaha menarik perhatiannya dengan seluruh daya dan kecantikan yang mereka miliki, namun usaha mereka sia-sia. Mereka kemudian kembali ke sorga dan melaporkan kegagalan mereka kepada Dewa Indra. Bagi para dewa, kegagalan ini justru menjadi bukti kehebatan dan kesaktian Arjuna.
Dewa Indra kemudian mendatangi Arjuna dengan menyamar sebagai seorang bijak tua. Arjuna menyambutnya dengan penuh hormat dan menegaskan bahwa tujuan utamanya bertapa adalah untuk memenuhi kewajiban sebagai seorang ksatria serta membantu saudaranya, Yudistira, merebut kembali kerajaannya demi kesejahteraan dunia.
Raja Niwatakawaca, yang telah mendengar kejadian di Gunung Indrakila, mengutus raksasa Momo Simuka untuk membunuh Arjuna. Dalam wujud seekor babi hutan, Momo Simuka menghancurkan hutan-hutan di sekitarnya. Arjuna yang terkejut segera mengangkat senjatanya dan keluar dari guanya. Pada saat yang sama, Dewa Siwa, yang mengetahui kesungguhan Arjuna dalam tapa semadi, muncul dalam wujud seorang pemburu. Kedua pihak melepaskan panah secara bersamaan, sehingga babi hutan itu tewas; kedua panah tersebut menyatu. Perselisihan kemudian terjadi antara Arjuna dan pemburu tersebut mengenai siapa yang berhak atas babi itu, dan berujung pada perkelahian. Arjuna hampir kalah, tetapi saat memegang kaki lawannya, wujud pemburu menghilang, dan Dewa Siwa menampakkan diri. Arjuna memujinya dan mengakui kehadiran Siwa dalam segala sesuatu. Dewa Siwa kemudian menganugerahkan panah Pasupati beserta pengetahuan gaib mengenai cara penggunaannya.
Dewa Indra mengutus saisnya untuk membawa Arjuna ke sorga dan menjelaskan kondisi yang kurang menguntungkan bagi para dewa akibat niat jahat Niwatakawaca. Arjuna dan Suprabha kemudian diutus menemui Niwatakawaca. Suprabha merayu raja sambil memuji kesaktiannya, dan menanyakan tapa yang membuatnya dianugerahi kesaktian luar biasa oleh Rudra. Terjerat oleh bujukan Suprabha, Niwatakawaca membuka rahasianya: ujung lidahnya merupakan sumber kesaktiannya. Setelah mendengar rahasia itu, Arjuna keluar dari persembunyian dan menghancurkan gapura istana. Suprabha memanfaatkan kesempatan tersebut untuk melarikan diri bersama Arjuna.
Raja Niwatakawaca, marah karena merasa tertipu, memerintahkan pasukannya menyerang para dewa di sorga. Terjadilah pertempuran sengit, hingga Niwatakawaca sendiri terjun ke medan laga dan mengalahkan pasukan para dewa, yang akhirnya mundur dengan rasa malu. Arjuna, yang bertempur di belakang barisan yang mundur, berusaha menarik perhatian Niwatakawaca. Ketika raja raksasa itu mengejar dan berteriak dengan amarah, Arjuna melepaskan busurnya. Anak panah tersebut melesat menembus mulut dan lidah sang raja, sehingga Niwatakawaca jatuh tersungkur dan tewas.
Arjuna kemudian menerima penghargaan atas jasanya. Selama tujuh hari, ia menikmati hasil perjuangannya sebagai seorang ksatria. Setelah dinobatkan, diadakan upacara pernikahan selama tujuh kali dengan ketujuh bidadari tersebut. Setelah tujuh hari berlalu, Arjuna mohon diri kepada Indra dan diantar kembali ke bumi oleh Matali menggunakan kereta surgawi.

[uah]King Niwatakawaca prepared an attack against Indra's kingdom in heaven. Because the giant king could not be defeated, either by the gods or other giants, Lord Indra decided to ask for help from Arjuna, who was meditating on Mount Indrakila at the time. Before giving his help, Arjuna was first tested for his perseverance in practicing yoga, as this was a guarantee that his help would produce the desired results.
Seven nymphs, who were extraordinarily beautiful including Tilotama and Suprabha were ordered to visit Arjuna and use their charms to seduce the ascetic. The seven celestial nymphs went to the cave where Arjuna was meditating and tried to attract his attention with all their power and beauty, but their efforts were in vain. They then returned to heaven and reported their failure to Lord Indra. For the gods, this failure was proof of Arjuna's greatness and supernatural powers.
The god Indra then approached Arjuna disguised as an old sage. Arjuna welcomed him with great respect and emphasized that his main purpose in meditating was to fulfill his duty as a knight and to help his brother, Yudistira, reclaim his kingdom for the good of the world.
King Niwatakawaca, who had heard about the events on Mount Indrakila, sent the giant Momo Simuka to kill Arjuna. In the form of a wild boar, Momo Simuka destroyed the surrounding forests. Arjuna, who was shocked, immediately picked up his weapon and came out of his cave. At the same time, Lord Shiva, who knew of Arjuna's sincerity in his meditation, appeared in the form of a hunter. Both parties released their arrows simultaneously, killing the wild boar; the two arrows merged together. A dispute then arose between Arjuna and the hunter over who was entitled to the boar, leading to a fight. Arjuna was about to lose, but when he grabbed his opponent's leg, the hunter's form disappeared, and Lord Shiva revealed himself. Arjuna praised him and acknowledged Shiva's presence in all things. Lord Shiva then bestowed upon him the Pasupati arrow along with the mystical knowledge of how to use it.
The god Indra sent his messenger to take Arjuna to heaven and explain the unfavorable conditions for the gods due to Niwatakawaca's evil intentions. Arjuna and Suprabha were then sent to meet Niwatakawaca. Suprabha seduced the king by praising his powers and asking him about the ascetic practices that had earned him Rudra's extraordinary powers. Entangled by Suprabha's persuasion, Niwatakawaca revealed his secret: the tip of his tongue was the source of his powers. After hearing this secret, Arjuna came out of hiding and destroyed the palace gate. Suprabha took advantage of this opportunity to escape with Arjuna.
King Niwatakawaca, angry at feeling deceived, ordered his troops to attack the gods in heaven. A fierce battle ensued, until Niwatakawaca himself jumped into the battlefield and defeated the gods' army, who finally retreated in shame. Arjuna, who was fighting behind the retreating line, tried to attract Niwatakawaca's attention. When the giant king chased after him and shouted angrily, Arjuna released his bow. The arrow shot through the king's mouth and tongue, causing Niwatakawaca to fall and die.
Arjuna then received an award for his services. For seven days, he enjoyed the fruits of his labor as a knight. After being crowned, a wedding ceremony was held seven times with the seven angels. After seven days had passed, Arjuna asked Indra for permission to leave and was escorted back to earth by Matali using a heavenly chariot.
